Is there such a thing as a chef-quality electric stove?!

Question:

Is there such a thing as a chef-quality electric stove?

We may buy a house where gas is not an option. Ugh! I love my old Chambers stove and I am dreading the possible loss of her. Please make me feel better about this...

Answers:
Sure there are: both my private and my working kitchens are in a locality where mains gas is not an option. If you find yourself truly bereft of gas -- i.e. you can't get used to all-electric even after some time of really trying -- you could consider a dual fuel range, where at least two burners are gas, fed by bottles or an underground bulk tank.

On the upside, you will acquire (an) oven(s) (though prof. types are certainly not cheap) that will surprise you by their performance -- I wouldn't go back to gas ovens for the all the proverbial tea in China.

Chin up -- it really isn't that bad, really it isn't, promise..! :-)
