Food for a vegetarian dinner party?!

Question:

Food for a vegetarian dinner party?

Hello,

i'm going to my friends house tonight and said i would bring something for the 4 of us to eat for dinner, her boyfriend is a vegetarian. we always have spag bol when we go over so something different, any ideas? has to be fairly cheap and easy and quick to cook too.

thank you in advance

Answers:
Something easy is a taco bar. Get a large can of veg beans, heat the beans up- then take some sides of tortillas, or taco shells, salsa, lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese and some chips. This is a thoughtful meal for a vegetarian and they will appreciate your thoughtfulness. Oh yeah, don't forget the jalapenos!
Good luck and Have fun!
PS: Remember some vegetarians do not eat cheese or egg, so make sure what ever you take that those items are in a separate bowl.

Make spag bol but use quorn mince instead.

most supermarkets have a good range of veggie stuff now, check the chiller cabinets before the freezers though for the nicer stuff. Waitrose especially is very yummy for veggie food. put it in one of your own dishes and amaze them with your culinary expertise!

veggie lasagna; artichoke dip for appetizer; veggie antipasto loaded with all kinds of veggies, olives, cheese ; stuffed breads with veggies ; broccoli /spinach ; quiche; there are all types of casseroles that you can make, mac and cheese ; veggie pizza wedges ; so much ; depends on type of dinner to add to it

Easy... Anything without meat!

Dont use veggie sausages or mince etc...

If veggies are so against all this stuff, why do they insist on making all of their substitutes look like it???

Try stuffed tomatoes or peppers
Sliced Aubergines in a nice dressing
Asparagus is in season right now - chargrilled with a knob of butter

get a pack of puff patry some mushrooms and some really strong chesse.
roll ot pastry into square make it like a vola vant then cook it so it rises whilst the pastry is cooking slice the mushrooms and make up a chesse sauce add cooked mushroom to chesse sauce and then fill the pastry case serve with new potatoes and corn or what ever veg you like

An Omelette is always good as you can put anything you want in it. Or anything really, I'm a vegetarian and you can get meat substitutes for almost any form of meat imaginable. Just think of something that you would like whatever is in it and then look for a Quorn substitute for that kind of meat.

Vegtarian Moussaka

Vegetarian Paella

Vegtable Curry

Mmmm, vegetarian curries are lush and are so easy and quick to make. Just chop a load of veg (mushrooms, carrots, courgettes, onions, peppers etc) and cook them with a ready made sauce from the supermarket checking the label 1st to make sure it's veggie. If you prefer not to use ready made sauce, you can make one using tinned tomatoes and a few herbs. Then serve with rice or millet. Add chili to spice it up or soy cream to cool it down (much healthier than normal cream and you can't tell the difference in a curry).

VEGETARIAN LASAGNA

1 lg. jar spaghetti sauce
1 lb. broccoli, well drained
1 lb. spinach, well drained
Mushrooms, well drained
1 lg. carton cottage or ricotta cheese
1 egg
Parmesan cheese
Noodles

Spread a layer of spaghetti sauce in bottom of 9 x 13 inch pan, then a layer of noodles. Mix together broccoli, spinach and mushrooms. Spread over noodles. Mix together cottage cheese, egg and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Spread over vegetable layer. Another layer of noodles. Spread remaining spaghetti sauce, sprinkle Parmesan cheese over top. Cover tight with foil and bake 45 minutes at 325 degrees. Remove foil and bake 15 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

PS I TRYED THIS RECIPE LAST WEEK ITS DELICIOUS. :)

Pizza..

You can get some of those "pop-em" cans of Pillsubrry brand dough. It's pretty quick. I think the dough comes out of the can and you have to kinda roll it out, maybe bake it for 10 or 15 minutes, then you top your pizzas and bake another 15-20 min. Not too long. Really easy.

Call your friend if you're not sure how picky her boyfriend is. DOes he have a problem with dairy products? If not, you can use regular chese for him and throw on a few veggies (mushrooms, etc) Whatever he likes. For you and the rest, just put whatever toppings you like. Maybe make everyone their own pizza. Should be easy, and everyone loves pizza.

If he's vegan, find out how strict. Does he care if there's a little casien in his veggie cheese? You can easily find milk-free cheese, but alot of it has casien.

A meatless pot pie with mixed vegetables, mushroom soup, and a pre-made pastry crust topping. Another topping can be instant mashed potatoes-lightly browned crust or potato topping in the oven while getting ready to leave-easy as pie! lol

A vegetarian lasagna is a popular dish at our house, also cheese enchiladas is a good idea.

have you ever tried making a potato and vegetable bake. When im in a hurry this is ideal. peel have a dozen potatoes and boil, while potatoes are cooking I put frozen broccoli, carrot, cauliflower, and occasionally swede[optional] into my steamer. Make a cheese sauce for when the potatoes and veg will be ready, drain, cut potatoes into bitesize pieces. Put both potatoes and veg into a deep ovenproof dish add cheese sauce and a little extra cheese on top, put in oven at friends house temp 180 for about 30mins. This is a tasty vegetarian alternative good luck
