Vegans- do you take calcium pills?!

Question:

Vegans- do you take calcium pills?

I'm 18 y.o, and pretty petite- should I take calcium peels, and if so how many mg. per pill?

Answers:
Probably not since the vegan diet contains more than enough calcium. It is the meat and dairy eaters who have problems absorbing calcium, which for many leads to osteoporosis.

they do make vitamins for veggies/vegans....they have normal doses in the pills that help you not get sick... the ones I take are made by nature's plus. source of life multi-vitamin and mineral with whole food concentrates... they have worked well for me...

Sweetie IF you are eating your Leafy Green Veggie as you should you don't need those pills. Truely!

No.

Yes. I take them. Make sure to get the ones without the gelatin capsule. Get it in tablet form. Most of them have about 50% of your daily Calcium and about 40% of your daily Vitamin D.

Take one (or two a day if you are pregnant).

Absolutely not. It is adviseable that you get your nutrition from food. I eat plenty of legumes, nuts, seeds, vegetables (broccoli, mustard greens, kale, bok choy, sweet potatoes, collards, etc.), and whole-grains for calcium. Also, if you drink 64 oz. of water per day, you are getting 16% of the US RDA.

i am vegan, and i dont take calcium supplements. and im a long distance runner and gymnast, so i would be able to tell if i dident get enough calcium. i just drink a lot of soy milk.

Check out www.notmilk.com. It changed my life. Eat your dark leafy greens (kale, mustard greens, collards..etc.) Eat quinoa. You will be better than fine.
