Food Net work ...come on now!?!

Question:

Food Net work ...come on now!?

Why is it that the prime-time chefs on the Food Network all cook ethnic foods (excluding Rachel Ray ) and they are all non-ethnic ? why not an Asian ,hispanic, or african american shows

Answers:
Guess you don't watch Iron Chef or Iron Chef America. Giada - is Italian.. cooks Italian. Emeril - Portuguese and cooks all sorts of things. Al Roker does the cooking stuff for Food Network on the Today show. One of my favorite shows... Warren Brown does Sugar Rush. The food network is really diverse and thank God. At this level, these professional chefs study cuisines of certain cultures and become experts no matter their ethnic origin. What a great thing.

Taking your logic to an extreme, if you aren't ethnic, you shouldn 't eat ethnic food either. What a boring world that would be.

Why would you assume that because some one isn't of a certain ethnicity that can't or shouldn't be cooking that type of food?

Perhaps it is from the old saying.."when in Rome, do as the Romans do". I am not sure anyone could answer that for you. But I bet if you called one of the stations that carry the Food Network, perhaps they could tell you and maybe just one phone call could make a difference and prompt them to start cooking for other Nationalities...it's worth a shot!!!

Good Luck

Your nationality doesn't have to determine the type of food you cook. You can be white and cook Jamaican food or you can be black and cook Korean food. Come on, get past the race thing and just enjoy the show! And if you don't remember, Ming Tsai did have his own show. He owns a restaurant called Blue Ginger in Mass. if I'm not mistaken.

It is not about the food it is the style of cooking that interests people. All the cooks start with an ethnic base and then add there own touches to it. If you want to see the non-ethnic foods they create look on the web-site.

Face it... People are into ethnic foods right now, so the chefs lean on what is popular. By the why Bobby Flay's cooking style is very South-Western and as we know that is largely Hispanic. Do you watch iron chef? Morimoto I would tend to believe that is Japanese in style - go figure.

As far as far as African American the closest you will find is the southern styles of Paula Dean. Alot of her "old" receipes are african american. Check out her books. But if you meant african foods - that is a venture that the food network would struggle with. For one native african ingredients are very difficult to get fresh in most of the States and your average person has no idea what they are. And two... most people have never tried authentic african foods so it would scare them to try it.

I guess you don't remember the days of Yan Can Cook.

honestly?? have you considered who their target market is????? white women!! hello!!

Thank you...they had an asian cook, but they got rid of him they even had a black lady on there ,but they gave her show to paula deens boys. even on that the next food star the black latin and asian cooks lose.
giada does italian & she's suppose to be italian so yeah i agree with you ethnic foods should have that ethnicity cooking it not all white cooks, but that's the only way you get white folk to eat anything i guess putting a white face on it.
