I bought 1/2 pound of proscuitto on 6/3, is it still ok to eat it today (6/8)?!

Question:

I bought 1/2 pound of proscuitto on 6/3, is it still ok to eat it today (6/8)?

I bought it from the deli counter at Hannaford's Supermarket. I still have a few slices of meat left and I was wondering if it is still fresh and safe to eat or if I should throw it out. It's really tasty and I hate to waste it, but I also don't want to get sick.

Answers:
Its a cured meat! Meats are cured so that they will keep for a long time. You only bought it 5 days ago. I think its going to be safe.

If it still smells good and tastes good (try a small sliver!) then it is still good to eat.
After all prosciutto is salted and dried to last long.

It should be fine. I use a guide line of 7 days for most things. Good rule of thumb, if it smells good and still looks good, it should be fine.

Absolutley. You could eat it next week or next month and it would still be safe.

You paid +$4.00 lb
your a fool not to eat it.
or at least chop it up in your spaghetti.

If you kept it refrigerated it should be fine, if it looks slimy throw it out.
