What is the most usual type of Vada?!

Question:

What is the most usual type of Vada?

Namaste ~

I had some in Bangalore with a coconut
chutney.

They had little seeds (rai?) and I think pieces of kadi patta ...but I do not recall very clearly.

Also, although I have since lost the recipe, I saw a recipe for Golden Vadas in The Times of India ... I think they were made with yellow splits as part of the batter, and had roasted dals ...they were for a festival, although I forgot which one ...

Have you anything like that among your recipes? They looked delicious!!
I forgot the chutney that went with them... I think it was a tomato chutney.

Thank you very much!

Dal Vada

normally there r 2 types of vada. medu vada...the vada which has a hole in the centre. and dal vada or masala vada. for masala vada im giving the preparation method
ingredients
1 cup chana dal/split yellow peas soaked for abt 2 hrs. in that u can add 3-4 dry red chillies. grind them coarsely without any water. add 1-2 finely chopped onions, chopped coriander (4 tsp) and salt to taste. u can make small rounded shapes with hand or can even pour with spoon into oil. tastes delicious on its own. can be kept for starters or as a teatime snack. this measurement gives roughly abt 12-15 vadas.
hope u enjoy them.
