This is one good place Bolee's Gourmet 10100 Santa Monica Boulevard Suite 1050, Los Angeles, CA 90067 ; also Sharrie's Berries on the internet. They even have sugar-free strawberries.

You can purchase them from many different local places (Edible Arrangements - look online for a location near you) or order them online - but if you have the time (a couple of hours) you can very easily make some fantastic chocolate dipped strawberries all yourself - and for a fraction of the price.

1. Purchase strawberries (assorted sizes or large w/stems) in grocery stores organic markets, and even farmers markets. Rinse and pat dry.

2. Purchase chocolate - I tend to use both white chocolate and milk chocolate (dip in one and drizzle from the other). There are a ton of options here: Almond Bark, Wiltons candy chocolate, Ghiradelli chocolate chunks (mixed with a little shortening - like Crisco, chocolate chip morsals (mixed with a little shortening - like Crisco) - even easier is a chocolate dip sold in the produce section of your local grocery store. You just remove the lid, place in the microwarve for a couple of seconds and start dipping!

3. Decide what your decorations will be - just plain dipped strawberries? Dipped and drizzled? Nut coated (use the finely chopped walnuts used in ice cream sundaes)? sprinkles- rainbow colored or chocolate (in the baking aisle)? Heck, purchase a couple of different colors of the Wilton candy making chocolate and have colorful chocolate dipped berries or swirl the colors together (gently) for unique tie-dyed designs.

4. Purchase a basket, plate, tray, or container that would suit the quantity and style of your berries. I often purchase something unique / pretty and leave as a hostess gift.

How do you make it all work? Rinse and pat dry the berries. Melt and mix the chocolate - be careful not to overheat (it will burn and not be so easy to use). Dip the berries into the chocolate and let rest on waxed paper or parchment paper until chocolate dries. Once dry you can either drizzle with your second color (let dry) then arrange on your serving dish. If you are going to sprinkle with nuts or sprinkles you will want to do this before the chocolate dries - otherwise the sprinkles wont stick. I generally dip one strawberry at a time: chocolate, then sprinkles, then dry, and arrange. Dipping a second berry as the first one is drying.

You do not have to limit yourself to strawberries - try chocolate chip cookies or peanut butter cookies. Though don't dip the whole cookie, try dipping only half of the cookie in chocolate.

Another alternative: Berries and cream. Arrange the berries on a tray around two dipping bowls (fill a bowl with one of each of - or use your own idea: whipped cream, chocolate whipped cream (using heavy whipping cream beat in sugared cocoa mix), chocolate sauce, easy custard (vanilla pudding whipped thoroughly with cream cheese), light Karo syrup flavored with orange liquer, etc....

Special occasions call for special food and people love when it is home made. Even if you are cooking challenged, everyone can dip a berry! Good luck!
