Do I need to buy new can tops to freeze a new batch of freezer jam?!
Do I need to buy new can tops to freeze a new batch of freezer jam?
Or can I use the same tops as I did on the last batch? It seems to me like it doesn't matter, since it goes in the freezer, anyway. But my mother-in-law told me I DO need to buy new tops. I don't want to go against her, but I really don't agree.

You would only need new tops if you were canning the old fashioned way, which is how I presume your mother-in-law did it in her day..........
No you don't have to by new ones. Go ahead & reuse the ones that you already have. All you do is put the lids in a bowl of hot water & the lids will seal on the jars when they cool down. My neighbor makes her own jams & she hasn't had a problem with it.
