What are some advantages and disadvantages of being a vegetarian?!

Question:

What are some advantages and disadvantages of being a vegetarian?

I know that one may outweigh the other (not saying which) but give me an equal number of advantages as disadvantages. I want a strictly unbiased answer.

Answers:
advantages (not exhaustive, not shown in order of importance):
1. contribute towards lessening global warming
2. does not support the slaughtering of animals
3. probably cheaper (you don't need to buy meat, which can be expensive)
4. you won't need to wonder why you love your dog but eat food that came from a killed cow
5. avoids nasty hormones, chemicals, and other crap the animals have
6. you can contribute to a more humane world

disadvantages (not exhaustive, nor ranked in importance):
1. some places (e.g. France) may have limited to no options suitable for vegetarians
2. others may ridicule or make fun of your being vegetarian
3. you have to make sure you get enough protein otherwise (from bread, lentils, beans, nuts, soy/almond/rice/regular milk, etc).
4. some people may think all you eat is salad
5. many seemingly vegetarian foods have animal fat/by-products added to them, making shopping and eating at fast-food places a bit tedious
6. your family might ridicule or criticize your eating habits if they are not following that diet

advantages disadvantages
*u will kill animals
*u wont get fat
*u will be missin out
*u wont die of a heart attack
*you can stay healthy
*u wont kill animals

Advantages: u can get healtheir by going on the vegetarian path.

Disadvantages: there are not alot of vegetarian choices in restaurants!!

The advantages:

clear skin, better health, better digestion, more regular bowel movements, shiny hair and nails, better for the environment, no guilt over killing helpless animals, lower cholesterol without drugs, weight loss, improved skin tone, more energy, less risk of food contaimination illnesses, less fat, more vitality.

Disadvantages:

Being ridiculed by people who have closed minds to the concept, and lack of choices in restaurants and commercial foods, most of which contain animal products or by products.

You get lots of vitamins. ~
You are more susceptible to illnesses.

I don't believe that you will get an unbiased answer from anyone, but ...
Advantages:
your appearance (skin, hair, nails) will probably improve (if you do things the right way and eat a balanced vegetarian diet), you will be one of the few Americans who does not smell like "putrid meat" (one of the things foreigners use to describe us), your digestive tract may become regulated

Disadvantages: More time consuming (meal making, unless you go completely raw), costly (as there is less demand for veggie food), you must devote time to calculating the amount of nutrients you must compensate for that you don't get from meats (or eggs, dairy, and so on, depending on the type of diet you want to follow)

If you're looking to become a vegetarian, please do some research and consult a doctor if you're unfamiliar with the nutrients our bodies require daily.

advantages: smug sense of superiority and satisfaction.

disadvantages: Being a threat to society supporting terrorist groups like PETA.

Advantage: Being a vegetarian is another way to live a non violent life. It feels good for those of us who have chosen it. Disadvantage: Many people do not understand why we have chosen to not eat animals. ------But regardless of what others say, vegetarians do not hate meat eaters and do not feel superior. They just feel good about their personal choice to not eat meat. It's simple. It's a choice.

Advantages:
Healthier, Clear conscious, Clearer skin, Better digestion, Helping the environment, More vitamins, Lower risk of heart disease, Lower cholesterol, Lower blood pressure, Lower risk of cancer, Lower risk of stroke, Lower risk of osteoporosis, Lower risk of diabetes.

Disadvantages:
Little options when eating out, Decrease in testosterone levels, Protein and Vitamin deficiencies, Ridicule from family members.

I have found very little information that actually provides any real disadvantages to being a vegetarian.
