I'm trying to follow a cooking recipe. What is a 2-count of olive oil?!

Question:

I'm trying to follow a cooking recipe. What is a 2-count of olive oil?

I will be pouring it into a deep skillet.

Answers:
I was taught that it is counted in seconds....
One one-thousand, two one thousand... etc

The oil / liquid needs to be "pouring" at full stream for the count.

Some of my grandmothers old recipes call for "counts" and I used to watch her make batters and puddings this way.

2 turns of the pan.

Turn the bottle up, and count 1...2...

does not matter what your pouring into, it is about what you are adding to it.

Sounds like a typo in the recipe. Could be two tablespoons....depends on what you are going to do. That should be enough to saute vegetables in, but not for deep frying.

To say "a 2-count" is certainly not a great way to write a recipe, but I would take that to mean about 2 tablespoons.

This is were you get to play a bar tender. You will pour the olive oil like you were pouring shots. a two count =about 2ounces if you follow the old saying 1 count = 1ounce. Since you are pouring in a skillet it doesn't sound like it need to be an exact measure. You can pour less than 2 ounces, you might not need it to saute or pan fry something. You can always add more if needed, it is harder to take it out once you heat it. You get what I am saying.

A count is considered a tablespoon, at least that's what how my grandmother measures her oil.. She usually tells us, put 2 count of oil.. What is count, then she'll say, about a tablespoon.

A two-count is a two-second pour of olive oil.
