To make these awsome dishes you speak of you will slowly need to build your pantry. By that I mean slowly begin to gather herbs and spices that you will be needing. Also certain staples should be in your kitchen at all times, like, flour, cornstarch, margarine, butter, eggs, olive and other cooking oils. Some white wine for cooking and also red. You will need assorted vinegars too. don't forget the sugar. Browse thru your most interesting recipes and add a spice or two to your grocery list every week.

The next thing you need to know is that you will have to watch the grocery ads to see what meats are affordable on your budget. There is a website called sunday saver that shows you the local ads by the week where you can compare and make good choices about what you buy. I plan my weekly meals by what 's on sale and if I have freezer space and there is a really good savings on something I buy two or three to freeze, that way it's on hand.
if you are on a budget and you are feeding two and say, 4 pork chops come in a pack, freeze two and have them later.

When you are making a side dish and it will be more than two can eat, freeze the leftovers for another meal. (it'll be quick if you're in a hurry some time)/.

Learn how to cut down a recipe if you don't need to make 6 servings, if you only need two cut it in 1/3.

Now start stocking up a little at a time, and in no time you will have stocked your pantry. Then look up some meal plans, and have at it.

Here's a starter from my own collection.

Stir frys are sooooo easy to make and you can ad any kind of ingreedient that you like. You mainly have strips of chicken, beef or lamb with a soy & garlic or ginger and honey sauce (you can pick up pre made stir fry sauces from supermarkets) ad onions and mushrooms and then any kinds of vegies you like, or keep it plain and simple. ususlly served with rice or noodles, so simple, so cheap and so yum!

Go to the news-stand, or magazine section of a book or grocery store, and look for 2 mags--: Taste of Home, or Simple & Delicious.

Both are GREAT for new (or experienced) cooks--and the ingredients are common & affordable. If you can't find them, go to reimanpublications.com

here's a really good recipe,

ingredients:
1 1/2 cups of rice
4 tyson mesquite grilled chicken breast
3/4 lbs of mixed frozen vegetables
1 stick of butter or margarine
1 large onion
3 cups of water
5 table spoons of soy sauce

ok to start add 1/2 of the stick of butter into a pot to fry the rice, when the rice starts looking kinda clear, cut half of the onion into small pieces and put it into the rice. let it fry until you notice that the rice is going to start turning light brown, then add the 3 cups of water and cover the pot on medium heat. while thats on, place 4-5 pieces of the tyson chicken breast on the microwave for 3 mins or until defrosted. after cut them into medium squares and take out a pan and place on high and add the rest of the butter into the pot and place the chicken into the pan also. by then the water in the rice should be boiling and starting to get soaked up by the rice, turn off heat to the rice and let sit with the lid on it (do not take the lid off). When that you see the chicken is about to turn light brown dice the rest of the onion and place in the pan to fry for a little while or until the onion starts to look clear, when that happens put the 3/4 lbs of vegetables into the pan and pour the soy sauce over the vegetables and cover the pan and let sit on medium heat for 15-20 mins. after you see that 15 mins have passed by check the vegetables and mix the chicken and vegetables and cover for about 2-5 mins. when the vegetables are done, place rice and the chicken and vegetables in a plate or bown and eat up.... its a fast recipe that i like.... i came up with it so i hope you like it.......

If you would answer me back, I could give you recipes for a budget. I have had to be on a limited budget for years. I was on food stamps some of the time. Now I am a grandmother raising 2 grandchildren, and I am again on food stamps. There are great ways to cook without much money.

I am not good at measuring I just do it by site and I will tell you what all is in it just put it in until it looks good!

Hamburgers,
1 lb hamberger meat
BBQ Sauce
Tabasco sauce
Onion powder
Worcestershire sauce
Craker crumbles

Inside the burger put a slice of butter it makes the burger more moist. Just cook the burger on a pan or in a skillet! It is yummy and moist!

Fried or grilled pork chops, salt and pepper. Mashed potatoes or instant mashed potatoes. A can of veg. or pkg. of frozen. Fresh squash, in a med. pot add butter, and sliced green and yellow squash, salt and pepper. Cover and simmer on very low heat stirring now and then. Add butter as needed. Cook til soft. Delicious! Make a roast and have lots of leftovers. Season roast with salt, pepper, and garlic. Poke holes in meat, push in slices of garlic. Flour meat and brown in the same pan you will cook it in. When browned add a little water to pan and cover tightly. Cook in oven 325 degrees till almost done, start checking after about 1 and 1/2 hours. It all depend on the size of the roast and how well done you like it. Use beef, pork, or lamb. When it looks like it might need another 40 min. to an hour add potato quarters, carrots, and large slices of onions. Cover tightly and cook till veg. are done. You can make gravy with the pan drippings if you wish. Here's a quick, easy, and economical main dish. Brown hamburger meat with salt and pepper. Drain 1/2 the liq. and pour into oven proof deep bowl. Cover to top of bowl with mashed potatoes. Form peaks and dot with butter. Put it into a hot oven until the peaks brown. ( just a few min. ) My mother called this Mystic Pudding. Still very popular around my house. Good luck with your cooking. The more you do, the better you will get and the more you will like it. Remember there are lots of recipe sites on the web. I like Food Network and All recipes. com the best.

Go to www.cooks.com the recipes in there are really easy and simple with very few ingredients.
