What is peta?!

Question:

What is peta?

What is peta? My friend recently has been obsessed by it, and just turned vegetarian and is going to be vegan. But I really don't understand it. Why do some people want to be vegan. Not ALL animals are hurt when producing milk. (for instance the amish farmers) But over all what is peta's organization trying to do? I think (not to be judgemental) that some people are too obsessed. My friend wants to tape a peta stencil and go tanning with it this summer.

I agree that the abuse of animals is not right but PETA is an extremely radical organization that promotes "TOTAL LIBERATION" for all animals. (translation = total chaos)

They're even against having animals as pets.

Hmmm.... how many animals would be happy being "totally liberated" and without homes where they are kept safe and warm? Brilliant.

i dont no

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is an animal rights organization based in the United States.

PETA want total animal liberation no more, no less. Cruel meat eaters like you will one day see the light, become vegens and allow all animals to be free.

Peta is a type of yummy bread. It is a foreign food that goes great with Gorma Sabzi. Yummo!

peta is an extreme animal rights group. they do great work for the ethical treatment of animal. although i am a huge animal lover, sometimes i feel they are a little too overbearing with their opinions. i support them fully but i also believe everyone has the right to do what they want because as you said not all animals are abused.

They stand for the ethical rights of animals. But yet, the kill animals also. So, it's a bit hypocritical of them. I'm a vegan also, so when you say that most are obsessed, they're only trying to get their point across. Stand for something they believe in. But yes, I admit that some take it overboard by trying to get everyone to be veg.

this is what peta is... PETA believes that animals have rights and deserve to have their best interests taken into consideration, regardless of whether they are useful to humans. Like you, they are capable of suffering and have an interest in leading their own lives; therefore, they are not ours to use―for food, clothing, entertainment, experimentation, or any other reason

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
They're a somewhat radical animal-rights organization. Their policies include no pets, no zoos, no fur coats, no animal testing, veganism/vegetarianism, and pro-euthanasia.

They have a great marketing campaign, but some of their members are less than great. While they have drawn attention to animal rights, they often have bad tactics. Also, they've been criticized for funding the terrorist group Animal Liberation Front.

Biased section below:
Perhaps the greatest criticism against PETA is the no animal testing policy. Without animal testing, there are no drugs. Without drugs, people die. And people>other animals.

People Eating Tasty Animals.
hahahahaha, I always get a kick out of that one.

People for the Ethnical Treatment of Animals. Go 2 their website to learn the facts!

how many amish famers do you think provides major stores with their milk.. probably not a lot. most products are coming from places where the animals are abused and treated horribly.

Your friend evidently cares about the animals feelings.

Ok first of all People Eating Tasty Animals is just ignorant and wrong!! Ok so obviously all of u supporters of that enjoy pain and suffering of animals need to learn your facts. PETA is a wonderful organization that helps the world suceed in the Aniaml Rights Philosophy. It is not a joke all of you ha ha ing. it is extremely serious and should not be taken lightly. Do you have any idea of what happens to the animals who die for you to have meat. Or what the cows go through so you can have milk. Or hao egg laying hens live. My bet is you don't. Or you just don't care. if you don't care then that is exxxxxtremly insensitive to say the least. Get the facts straight before you start making jokes like People Eating Tasty Animals. That is both ignorant and appalling!!!!

I don't understand why people keep saying that PETA is against having animal companions.

There is a dog park behind their headquarters (literally blocks from my house), the employees often bring their pets to work, and just about ever one I know that works there has a dog and/or cat.

Secondly, it really irritates me when people call PETA hypocrites for euthanizing animals.

You have to consider the potential danger to the domesticated animal population if it is not kept under control.
Also, due to limited funding shelters can not house animals indefinitely, and it would be inhumane to simply release domesticated animals into the "wild." The only reasonable and humane choice is euthanizing. It is unfortunate, but it is a sad reality.
