Unless the label says 100% cacao powder (which I doubt), and you have a brand name, like Ghiradelli's or Hershey's, read the ingredient label and look out for milk and its associated by-products: whole milk powder, skim milk powder, whey, whey {protein} isolate, casein, {sodium}caseinate, lactoglobulin, butter, butter cream, butter cream powder. These are all milk allergans. Also look for carbohydrate derivatives like dextrose, maltodextrin, and any ingredient with -dextrin suffix produces allergic reaction similar to milk.

Oh ok. I found out my daughter's milk allergy when I shared my Ben & Jerry's chunky monkey with her when she turned 1 and boy, did I make a mistake! Her whole face starting at the lips was covered in hives! I freaked out! Benedryl to the rescue! Email me (click the button on my profile) and I'll send you a list of what my daughter CAN and CANNOT eat.

My daughter has limited allergy to milk and all milk by-products (hives reaction only, no need for ephidrene shots)
