Is it bad to eat too much fruit?!

Question:

Is it bad to eat too much fruit?

I have completely cut fats and sweets out of my diet (i.e. Ice cream, fried foods, etc.) and replaced my usual snacks with lots and lots of fruit (grapes, pineapple, melon) Is it bad to eat a lot of fruit? Does the natural sugar in the fruit contradict the non-sugar diet?

Answers:
No it doesn't...fruits are excellent for you and a great replacement for fake sugars--remember though--EVERYTHING in moderation is key

I think you should have a little of the sweets and other stuff, but it's great that you're eating all that fruit! It's good for you, just don't overdo it. (You get a lot of sugar and sweetness from fruit.)

No you can never have enough fruit fruit is good for you

It's not bad but the acid in the fruit may burn your tongue:( Make sure not to eat too much of it because your body doesn't need too much of the sugar to run. I'm glad you're eating healthy;) I love fruits but I also love my ice cream.

well it's bad to eat too much of anything, so yes.
you might get constipation if you eat a lot, but i don't think that the sugars are bad for you.

you might poop a lot, but other then that fruit is good, make sure you are getting enough veggies and grains too

Well no it isn't bad at all so dont worry and plus if you eat lots of fruit you have a very healfy diet!
:)

I think that it is bad to eat too much of anything; however, I think that that fruit is healthier than most other foods

Fruit is a healthful food and a good substitute for sweets. fruit has fiber which helps with weight loss. The only way that fruit might be too much would be a diabetic and then the fruit needs to be limited. If you are counting carbs or on a low carb diet then eating a lot of fruits would be a lot of carbohydrates. Any food in moderation is good, fruit included.
The sugar in fruit is fructose, not sucrose which is regular sugar. fructose has little effect on the blood sugar so it is ok.

No. Whole fruit like what you're eating is wonderful. It may have natural sugar in it, but it also has a lot of nutrients and water. The extra water you're getting (and you should drink plenty in addition) will help flush the natural sugar out. You're doing yourself a world of good by doing what you're doing. Just remember that fruit juices, while they're good for you, should be 100% fruit juice, and that they will have more sugar and less good stuff than whole fruit does. It's only a problem if you stop eating vegetables, or don't get enough iron because you're replacing EVERYTHING with fruit. You're doing a great job-keep it up!

honestly to much of any thing is bad for you and yes natural sugar to much is bad too thats why they tell you to variey your diet but continue what you are doing and if you feel sick see a doctor

Yeah that's if you want to keep running back and forth to the bathroom!

no it is not bad for you, just try to contain yourself on some of the sugar that the fruit has in it.

I disagree...

fruit, like apricots, with lots of iron, will give you horrible cramps...

and there are certain fruits you might want to stay away from because they pack more sugar than less sugary fruit...

the best fruits for what you're talking about, so to speak, are rhubarb, citrus, cranberries

It depends, a lot of fruit is naturally sweetened & as we know sugar turns to fat. If you eat the fruit in moderation, just like anything else you can retain a nice healthy body & weight.

No, I don't think you can eat too much fruit. After all, their mostly water. And I don't think that the sugar they have in them is the kind you need to stay away from. But absolutely don't stop eating fats. Just make sure to eat the good fats, not the bad ones. But that sounds like what your doing anyway with no ice cream, fried stuff, etc. Good luck with eating healthy!

I agree with Pink the dietitian, but I want to add that you should consider adding strawberries and blueberries and pomegranates (Chinese apples) to that list because they're full of great things like antioxidants that can't be found in anything else.

Make sure you wash that fruit too!! There's a safe product on the market called Fit that's a produce wash that I swear by.

It smells pleasant and you would be amazed what the water looks like when you're done rinsing, even after you've washed it with anything else.

eh. it is way better than the artificial and refined sugar which unessecerily adds more sugar into your diet.

grapes, pineapple and melon are known sources of lots of natural sugar.. grapes and pineapple especially.

it's okay to eat occasionally and in small portions as you would candy and ice cream and fried foods, as it is natures treat.

it's better to snack on greens and veggies. snap peas and snow peas and bell peppers are very sweet but with much less sugar than official fruits.

those come packed highly with nutrition as well. :)

so hope this helps you out.
