Store fruit in fridge or at room temperature?!
Store fruit in fridge or at room temperature?
I always put my fruit in the refrigerator-- mainly strawberries, cherries, peaches, plums. Is this the best way to store them or should they be left on the counter at room temperature? Theyre sold in the grocery store at room temp. So I'm thinking I shouldd do the same b/c maybe it's too cold in the fridge. I don't know. What do you usually do with your fruit? What's the best way?

Berries keep best in the frig but everything else I leave in a bowl on the counter. Also most produce areas will have a fruit and veggie index book that will tell you the ideal storing and usage for most everything.
I think its how you prefer the taste. I like it better at room temperature because I think the flavor is better. On the other hand, if stored in the refrigerator it will last longer. Its really up to you and how you think it tastes best.
bananas, oranges, apples--keep on the counter. Anything else can go in the fridge!! I put peaches on the counter but then again in the fridge shouldn't do anything to them!
Strawberries and Cherries go directly into the refrigerator, depending on how the peaches smell if you can really smell the scent of a peach put it the refrigerator if not let it ripen up at room temperature then either eat at room temperature or put in the refrigerate to eat cold. Plums I really don't buy those.
room temperature unless they are overly ripe. at room temp they will continue to ripen and in the fridge they will actualy lose some of their flavor
