Why do people say "eat this it tastes like chicken" ?!

Question:

Why do people say "eat this it tastes like chicken" ?

If it don't look, smell or comes in a KFC bucket, then you cannot convince me a big green bug or other nasty so
called foods are going to taste like chicken !

Answers:
Because it's more polite than saying "suck this it's fowl"

boiled chicken has a very basic protein taste, similar to many other sources of protein like frogs legs etc.

tastes like chicken, lol...

I think it is the artificial flavour which resembles like chicken. Me too I don't get the point on why some products says it tastes like chicken although it has to be chicken. Weird!

Hmmm, I remember Bill Clinton claiming something tasted like chicken too, and it WASN'T chicken either! LOL!

I agree with you completely. So if everything tastes like chicken, what does chicken taste like?

they say it because everyone eats chicken. (well except vegans and vegetarians, but that's a different story)

speaking from a purely religious standpoint, all religions eat chicken, jewish (who can't eat pork and shellfish), muslim (ditto pork), hindu (beef). christians eat everything.

but most likely it does taste like chicken. the bugs probably not (i'm gonna guess kinda like beans ground up into a paste with a crunchy shell on it). but frog tastes like chicken, only with a kind of fishy after taste.

but seriously, at least try the foods that are recommended to you (unless you know you'd die if you ate it, i.e. allergy or have some great reason not to). if a big group of people eat and like it, it has to have something good about it.

look at the food we eat. hotdogs (who knows what goes in them?), kfc has that infamous video circulating around the internet of rats roaming free around a kfc kitchen (by the way popeye's is much better). just think of all the foods that sound/look nasty that you enjoy but might disgust someone else.

alls i'm saying is to just give peas (and whatever else, be it insect, animal, vegetable or mineral) a chance.

chicken must be a similar taste to many foods,as i have heard that frog legs taste the same!

There is a old saying..... " If a person goes blind while seeing green, all he feels is that everything is green for the rest of his life".

The people who say 'eat this it tastes like chicken'...... love chicken.

Hope that answers your question.

*Why dont u ask them urself wn they say or make such a statement ??
The reason will be clear then & there !!!!!!!

well most people think chicken is an okay flavor so if they say it tates like chicken you might be more inclined to taste it but since the expression is over used i think everyone knows it wont taste like chicken... so instead they should just say yes it does taste horrible but you should try it anyway... it probably wont kill you to try it and if you dont like it you NeveR have to taste it again! ... or you could get revenge on that person that told you to taste it but thats so juvenile ; )

Usually refers to something exotic like snake or alligator meat.

Maybe it taste like chicken to them.. We all have different taste buds!

Take care!

Because everyone LOVES chicken :P

I believe that if those people that say this are wanting you to try their dish, and know that if they told you what it was you tasting, you probably would not taste it.
So they say 'taste it it tastes like chicken". They are sure you know the taste of chicken and now with this reality, they feel sure you will not ask what it is your are tasting, but with just that recommendation they can now get you to taste their food.
It is a bit of fraud, but when cooks want someone to taste their food they will resort to a lot of things.
If you are not sure and want to know specifically what it is you are eating ask and ask again.. If you do not get an answer, then just move on, I am sure you will not go hungry, there is a KFC on every corner it seems.
Someone I know cannot eat Rabbit, for allergy reasons. He has said that he has come across many times where he was offered Rabbit and being passed off as chicken, as some Rabbit can taste like chicken. This man has to be very careful.
My word is, let your hosts know if that you are allergic to certain foods, or even if you just do not like tasting foods you do not know what it is. If you are at someone's house and they are offering some exotic food, and using that phrase on you ask what it is.. and if you do not get an answer just move on..
Good Luck.
