Can i freeze mussels with its shell?still good as fresh?!

Question:

Can i freeze mussels with its shell?still good as fresh?

i actually need half-shelled mussels, but since i cannot do it all in one time, i wonder if i can just freeze it and half-shelled it whenever i need it, still with good results

Answers:
You can, they are available frozen on the half shell commercially and Hotels/Restaurants use them all the time.
First- IQF them: (Individually quick freeze) by putting in a single layer on a plate or pan, uncovered, and freeze hard.
Then, to protect them from freezer burn, get a clean sprayer and mist them with ice water to glaze them. Freeze again on the plate until totally frozen.
You can then put them in a zip lock bag and just take out however much you want at a time.
