If used for cooking, margarine should be the solid kind which is higher in fat content. Low fat or"soft" margarines don't work too well in cooking.

You brainwash it... like in a cult.

I suppose you could put the soft margarine in a stick shaped container and refrigerate it. What would be the point, other than being firmer?

You would put the margarine in plastic wrap and wrap the plastic wrap around the margarine and stick it in the freezer. If you want a certain shape you can easily manipulate it after it spending about 15 minutes in the freezer. The 15 minutes in the freezer is to help you make sure the margarine is hard enough. When you are done just throw the plastic wrap away, no cleaning plates no hassle.

If your thinking about converting the soft to stick for baking, I don't think it's possible.
Don't use tub margarine for baking. You will just be wasting your time & ingredients. The results will be very disappointing.
Just hold off & buy some stick margarine to bake with.

A stick is 1/4 pound. If your tub is 1 pound, use 1/4 of it to equal a stick.,
