Answers:
I like both red and green, although (all else being equal) the green ones are hotter than the red ones. That's assuming you have the same type of pepper, at different stages of ripeness...green being the least ripe, red being the most. People think it's the other way around--red should be hotter--but it isn't. The capsaicin (the chemical that makes peppers hot) is at it's highest level when the pepper is freshly formed. It's Mother Nature's way of deterring animals from eating it, before the fruit is fully mature.
Depending on what I'm preparing, I'll usually use both red AND green chilis. Even aside from flavor issues, the more colors there are in a dish, the more appealing the dish is.
EDIT: my favorite vegetable...hard to pick just one, but I really like Brussels sprouts. Thousands of people are now making a "Mister Yuck" face.

Red chillies look great with white looking food, like stuff donw with cream. Flavour's great for manchurian stuff.

I love red or any kind of chillies because i am an indian too. We all eat spicy food if you are in america like me you will miss lots of spicyness from india. Ilove chat masala and panipuris. don't you?
