Rock salt and an ice cream maker--?!

Question:

Rock salt and an ice cream maker--?

This may sound like a really dumb question, but when using an ice cream maker and adding the rock salt---is the rock salt you buy at the grocery store the same rock salt you buy in giant bags to poor on the sidewalk in the wintertime? Just wondering, cause that would save TONS of $$!

Answers:
Yep it is the same salt. My aunt used to make Ice Cream all the time and was constantly having to go to the store to buy salt. So she decided to go to her local hardware store and buy a big bag of rock salt. It definitely saved her on some money.

yes

just grocery store salt, i don't think you should use sidewalk salt,

When using an ice cream maker and adding the rock salt--- They wont mix with ice cream but it is used for freezing purpose, if your are taking these type of salts, Just wondering, cause that would have to send TONS of $$!

I use softener salt you can buy at the grocery store in 30lb bags. It is a bit excessive if you are only using it to make ice cream but if you have other uses for it, that would be a good solution.
