Emerald brand Almonds...What's up?!?!

Question:

Emerald brand Almonds...What's up?!?

For the past 3 months or so, I've been on a huge almond kick... my favorite brand is Emerald; I've been buying their dry roasted almonds which are packaged in a resealable "pouch"... However, recently, I've been having a difficult time finding them in the pouch, rather they now come packaged in a pringles-like tube (and they're more expensive...) What's up with this?

Answers:
yeah, i think they just changed their packaging for most of their nut products. i a HUGE emerald nuts fan too. i love their apple-cinnamon almonds and their sesame-glazed walnuts and their trail mixes (apart from their regular almonds, walnuts and pecans). THOSE come in a resealable pouch. i guess they think the canisters are more "consumer-friendly" since you can screw on / off the top when you need to whereas with the pouches, not only were they not guaranteed to stay closed (though i admit, you'd have to have messed up the "zip-lock" yourself!) BUT the nut bits and their "shavings" at the very bottom were harder to access than they are in the canisters (the canisters are round so they don't have corners where nut bits can get stuck). as for the cost increase, that may very well be directly linked to the packaging itself. they're sturdier and may cost the company more to provide them. it might be worth it if they were environmentally friendly too!

I have noticed the same thing. I havent seen them in pouches for awhile now...Try emailing them and asking what their reasoning was behind switching to different packaging. Sorry I cant help you much!

I hate to say it; but it's probably because the cannister holds less nuts. I love Bertolli Marinara Sauce and have a few jars on hand. I noticed that they now come in a new style of jar and guess what? It holds LESS! I had a hard time making do with the old size and now with new one having less sauce--I'll probably have to buy two jars. Hmmmm, could it be that is the point of the new jar design--you bet!
