What are calvados?!

What are calvados?

I saw Emeril making a dish with cabbage, apples, calvados and pork chops....however I tuned in too late to find out exactly what calvados are.


Answers:
Calvados is a dry apple brandy made in France. It is distilled ( heated evaporated then condensed and bottled) It is then aged at least 1 year in special oak casks. The American equivalent is apple jack which is made from hard cider and aged at least 2 years.

Strong alcohol made on apples, I think.
