How do you tell when cookies are done???!

Question:

How do you tell when cookies are done???

Answers:
they will look kinda brown around the bottom edge. or if you want them crispy let them brown a little on the top.

Look at the color, if they are pale they are probably not done. Also, touch one with your finger, if they are soft and your finger leave an indentation on the cookie it needs more time..

When the edges are brown. The middle might still look a little raw, but they will continue to cook after you take them out and they will be nice and chewy.

You follow the directions. Cookies continue to cook after you remove them from the oven due to the heat they contain. So even if you remove them at 12 mintues and they don't look done..they will be done by the time they cool...thats why they say...Cool!

I throw them against the wall. If they stick, they are not done. If they criumble, they are overdone

they will be a golden brown on the edges
they will still look and feel gooey in the oven
but when they cool they will start to harden and get the cookie texture
so dont let the tops get brown
or you will have cookies that are like croutons
:D

stick a tooth pick in one...if it comes out clean then its good, if theres batter on it then cook it longer

when they are slightly brown around the edges. Your recipe should say how to tell.

when the bottoms are lightly brown (for softer cookies) wait for the edges to be brown if you want them more cooked

When they actually Look and Smell like cookies and you touch them and they feel right!
you will know.. =]

when they are a light brown

my mother always said when your baking and you smell them, they are almost done. Then you check the color, and pull them out just before they reach the color you want. If you take them out just as they reach the right color, they are overcooked as they will continue to brown.

Otherwise, you check the temp of your oven using a separate thermometer, and you use the time indicated on the directions.
