Im a vegetarian but im thinking about eating chicken again?
i love being a vegetarian but im constantly sick all the time because i dont get enough protien. so ive been think about eating chicken but im scared to. im afraid ill get sick or feel really guiltydoing it. i dont know what to do. i dont even know what kinda of chicken to start out with that would be gentle on my stomache. i need help!
Answers:
Take it slow by eating just a little bit to a time. And don't feel guilty, other living creatures eat animals, it's a part of life and are bodies are made for it (hence the sickness from not eating meat...) so gradually reentering chicken in your diet can be good.
have you tried a soy protein bars or drinks.
Make sure you kill it with your bare hands...
im a vegitarian to and nothing feels worst than cheating and eating a meat tophoo is a great way to get over that craving
Don't go back!
Think of the poor chickens.
Try eating more beans and tofu!
Do you like beans? Soy beans (edamame) are an excellent source of protein, and taste good (and I hate other types of beans/peas). Tofu is good too - you can cook it with almost anything and it will take on that taste. You can also supplement your diet with protein shakes - they're pretty good tasting now.
Skip the chicken and get yourself a big ole T-Bone Steak, and wash it down with a bottle of good wine. You will be fine
If your gut can cope with a veggie diet then chicken is going to be no problem.
Why feel guilty about eating it, nearly all the creatures on earth eat meat, just because man has the means to rear animals for food does not mean you should feel guilty. If you were living in the wild you would be killing your own just like the other animals.
Start with chicken broth. It will be okay.
you should just eat a little bit of a nicely cooked piece of chicken. the chicken is already dead! if it is not eaten, it will be wasted. its for your health!
eat it, i dont kno wat the big deal is
I'd recommend bean and rice burritos and tofu. Also there is a really good protein shake called Balance that has a lot of protein and is a good breakfast shake or suppliment to your meal.
Don't forget that that chicken you see in the market used to be a living, breathing, feeling creature and it's not necessary to eat it when there are other great protein suppliments to eat.
If you are craving the taste of chicken, Morningstar Farms has really good fake chicken that tastes pretty real and has a good amount of protein.
If you have chosen to be a vegetarian then don't give it up. I LOVE meat but I don't think you have to eat it. If you are not getting enough protein from your regular "diet" then try to eat tofu if you like it or soy based "meats" and eat a lot of beans. They have a lot of protein. Try that first. Myself, I will stick with the meat but good luck to you!
go watch a video abouthow they hill chickens (peta2.com)
you wont want chicken.
ask your doctor about protein vitamin or something.
the snicker protein bars are really good and they are healthy for you. try it!
Are you eating enough fresh vegetables? It is the vitamins A and C that keep our immune system strong. I can recommend an herb for you to take, ASTRAGALUS, that will build up your immune system. Don't eat chicken. It is full of antibiotics, hormones and salmonella.
Organic chicken is supposed to not have these things in it but I can never find it for sale.
My husband was vegan for years and couldn't get enough protein. He just kept getting thinner despite our attempts at increasing his protein intake. I have been vegan for 16 years and have no problem with getting enough protein. Each person has a different body and each person must decide what is right for them. My husband now eats chicken from local organic farms that are run by families, not corporations. It didn't hurt his stomach, he had no adverse effects from the change in diet- he actually was able to gain weight and is now healthier than ever. If you feel you need to try eating meat you may consider looking for a responsible farm in your area. That way you can see the conditions in which the animals live (and die).
try boca burgers or like morning star chicken nuggets! they have about the same protien!
:) <3
Damn I'm surprised your question is still here. Usually you would think all these defensive veg heads on here on a daily basis would report you. Well they are all going to tell you that your bad and not to go back but who cares. Chicken is great for you and has quite a bit of protein that your body needs. Without it hitting your stomach like a ton of bricks try this:
Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
Lay them in a casserole pan like 9 X 9 is what I use. Just cover the bottom of the pan in water. Not alot of water just enough to cover the bottom. Place it in the oven at 350 for 40 mins then remove and flavor it with a hint of lemon juice. Cooking this way makes it less greasy and when you drain the water you will see how much fat you got rid of by doing this.
Hope this helps
eat a burger
Try chick peas instead of chicken. Loads of protein.
Don't go back. You'll feel terribly guilty and your stomach won't handle it so well the first time. Just think of the chickens. You can get your protein from another source. Talk to a doctor or something.

no!!!! don't eat meat..dude try boca burgers...taste better then meat...has protein..!!
Going back to eating meat is completly your choice. How do you know that you are sick because of lack of protien? There are many things that will make you sick. Have you gone to the doctor and done a complete work up?
You really should visit a doctor to be sure it is lack of protien that is causing the problem.
There are plenty of vegetarian ways to get protien if you really want to stay vegetarian. Beans, soy, legumes, vegetables, seeds nut, etc.

Here is a chart of protien comparison:

Good luck in your decision.
If you're worried about protein...just eat more beans, fruits, soymilk, and dairy... I'd talk to a doctor or nutritionist. :-) Good luck, I'm a vegetarian too and have almost cracked because I miss meat so much, but then I think of what animals go through, and change my mind instantly. :-)
Congratulation, u r close to making a great decision. If u want that chicken then dammit go get that chicken. You should care about you a lot more than some chicken. woo hoo
eat tons of protein bars, youl be ok. talk to a nutritionist or some dietary doctor type person
Chicken is a filthy food, they are kept in disgusting conditions and carry lots of diseases. If you are going to eat it, try free range and organic varieties.
You would be much better off with a steak or some lamb. Lamb is free range!
Please a humble request don't ever turn again to non-veg try following foods you will get all proteins
Proteins: Body's protein needs can be provided by either animal or plant sources. Mixed protein diet obtained from various plant sources is better than animal protein and is recommended in diabetes, renal diseases and liver diseases. Mixed protein diet from different plant sources has been the pattern of diet in India for all vegetarians.
Carbohydrates: Carbohydrates are mainly found in plant foods; like cereals, grains, fresh and dry fruits, legumes, vegetable, greens, nuts etc. plant carbohydrates include' large amounts of starches, sugar and fibers which are important for gut functions. The body is better suited to a high carbohydrate diet than a low carbohydrate diet. In fact 55% of the food intake should be carbohydrate. All animal products do not contain carbohydrate which is essential for body.
Fat: Plant fats differ from animal fats in two different ways 1) they are cholesterol free 2) they generally contain more polyunsaturated fat and less saturated fats. Plant fats usually have higher polyunsaturated fat value than animal fats.
A diet which is low in cholesterol and which contains fat of a high PIS value is associated with a lower incident of coronary health disease.
Vitamins and Minerals: plant foods are rich in many vitamins and minerals.
Vitamin D: Vitamin D is obtained by exposure of skin to sun light and this is not a problem in India.
Calcium: The vegetarians can meet their needs for calcium from dairy products. Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) Dark green vegetables are good sources of Riboflavin as are legumes and whole grain cereal.
Iron: The problem of iron deficiency is relatively common but vitamin C significantly enhances absorption of iron hence it is advisable for vegetarians to include with each meal a food high in vitamin C which as lime, citrus fruits or juices.
Zinc: Zinc is found in large number of plant foods.
Fiber: Fiber is found only in vegetarian food like whole grain cereals, legumes, greens, fruits, vegetable etc.
Thus in vegetarian foods all requirement of nutrition for body growth and maintenance is fulfilled. One can have a complete and balanced diet provided we take enough food which is as close to nature as possible in maintaining sturdy and disease free body. It is equally helpful in curing many diseases.
ADVANTAGES OF VEGETARIAN DIET:
More & more evidence is surfacing that directly links a prolonged non- vegetarian diet to diseases as cancers, heart diseases, diabetes, asthma just to name a few.
1. LOGEVITY: Vegetarian can expect to live 4-10 years longer then the non-vegetarians.
" Source: Seventh day Adventists study
2. LESS HEART DISEASE: Because of low fat, saturated fat and cholesterol content of the vegetarian diet the risk of heart disease is lowered. High blood cholesterol levels are associated with increased risk of heart disease.
3. LESS CANCER: Up to 40% of all cancers are diet related. Cancer death rates have been associated with obesity and high fat / low fiber diet. Vitamin A & C are thought to be protective against colon cancer. Low fat diets protect against prostrate and breast cancer. Indoles, lignans, isoflavones, protease inhibitors which are present in plant foods and shown to be potent anti carcinogens.
4. LESS BOWEL DISEASE: Diverticular disease and appendicitis occur more frequently with low fiber intake as in meat diet.
5. LEES OBESITY & LESS INCIDENCE OF DIABETES: It is easier to plan a low fat diet for a vegetarian then for a meat eater. The fiber in plant food dilutes the energy & provides a satisfying meal without all the calories. Diabetes over the age of 40 seems to be related to obesity.
CONLUSION:
When activists like M.K. Gandhi, sports personalities like Martina Novratilova & Carl Lewis, beauties like Brooke Shields & Kate Winslet, physists like Edison, Albert Einstein & A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, religious leaders & mystics like Jesus & Osho can be legendaries in there respective fields taking the advantage of being vegetarian, Is'nt it more prudent on our part to switch over to vegetarianism & enjoy better quality & longevity of life.
