Is brie cheese supposed to have an ammonia aftertaste?!

Question:

Is brie cheese supposed to have an ammonia aftertaste?

Maybe I should toss it. better safe than sorry. I don't know what cleaning techniques the supermarket uses. maybe it's getting on the foods

Answers:
Brie cheese is not supposed to have an ammonia after taste..if yours does..it is over riped and should not be eaten. The brie here in the states or canada is not true brie, it is injected with a special mold that makes it ripen. brie should be soft but not too runny, not squishy, and not hard either. that is what happened to yours, it was over ripened.

yes
, and stay away from limberger....

I would throw it out if I were you. You really dont want to risk food poisoning, even though chances are you'll be fine...like you said, better safe than sorry!
