Why did soda companies get rid of glass bottles?!

Question:

Why did soda companies get rid of glass bottles?

Answers:
They didn't completely; you can still find a few products out there in glass.

Mianly, glass is out of favor b/c it's fragile, plastic is cheaper and lighter to haul, and people want a larger protion size than an 8 or 10 oz. glass bottle gives them.

Because Plastic is cheaper. I miss those glass bottles too!

Most likely for cost reasons. Also, plastic bottles are more convenient and safe.
