I hope this is at least close to what you are wanting

FRIED CHEESE

1/2 lb. Mozzarella cheese
2 eggs, well beaten
2 tsp. all purpose flour
1/2 c. fine dry bread crumbs
1/8 tsp. paprika
Oil for frying

Cut the cheese into 1" squares. Set aside. Combine eggs and flour until well blended. In a flat dish, mix bread crumbs and paprika. Heat oil until very hot. Dip cheese squares into egg mixture, then coat well with the bread crumbs. Fry cheese in the oil until golden brown on all sides. Serve with pizza sauce. 4 servings.

A&W uses a white cheddar.

Either purchases cheese curds and bread them, or cut up pieces of white cheddar and bread those.

Place in hot oil until cheese begins to show outside of breading.
