I don't think fondant will work for the entire cake. That cake is decorated using a medium star tip. I see the spikes are made of fondant, take their advice and purchase the premade colored fondant at a baking store or a craft store like Michaels. You can pick up a bigger star tip if you only have a small one. Or just use the small one, it will just take you a while to cover the dino. I don't see any shortcuts from what they have there. Cute cake though, good luck!

I suppose you could use fondant but the texture would be a bit different and wouldn't look like such much like a dinosaur skin.

My suggestion would be to get someone to help you (and get some bigger decorating tips). Even with using fondant, it's still going to take you a long time to make this cake.

Good luck!

No, you could not use fondant for this cake design. I would use butter cream icing or maybe and I say maybe a royal icing.

If you canted to roll out the fondant and do each pice individual you might do that, but it wouldn't look right and You would have to get all the pieces to stick together.

I would use a star tip with fondant icing as that is what it looks like was done on that picture. It will take time, but with fondant it would take the same ammount of time and more frustration trying to get it to work.

Fondant is a bit hard to work with if you are not familiar with it. I suggest you use regular icing for it.
