If you kept a fresh egg warm would a chicken hatch from it?!

Question:

If you kept a fresh egg warm would a chicken hatch from it?

is it the cold fridge that kills them?

Answers:
If an egg has been fertilised, then application of the right amount of heat for the right length of time will cause it to hatch.
Regarding the refrigeration bit, all small-holders worth their salt keep the odd eggs in a fridge until they have enough to form a "clutch" (enough to put under a broody chicken - or in this case, in the right temp/time) and then do them all at once ! ! !

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall has done it in his "River Cottage" series.

I remember doing so as an experiment in my school (about 18 years ago!)

I believe the eggs you buy in the store have not been fertilized and therefore would not become a chicken if incubated.

The egg must first be fertilized to grow into a chicken. Grocery store eggs are not fertilized to begin with, hens lay them either way. It is possible for a hen to adopt an egg that she didn't lay, but it's rare. You would have to keep it in a very narrow tempurature range and be careful not to get your scent on it, as the hen will reject it if it's been tampered with. Your best bet is to take the freshly laid egg, and place it in the hen's nest with other eggs while she is away, always wearing a clean latex, rubber or vinyl glove.

Only fertile eggs. Most of the commercial laying hens have never seen a rooster in their lives, poor girls. If you get fresh eggs from a farm stand it's possible. Otherwise all you'll get is a rotten egg.

Eggs will only develop into an embryo>>foetus>>chick if it has been fertilised. It's the same for women (substitute baby for chick).

Where did you get the egg from? If from a shop ,no,as the eggs you buy are not fertile. To hatch an egg you need it from a chicken .free range.with a rooster or cockerel in the flock. You can check if an egg is fertile by candling, that is holding the egg up to a bright light so that you can see the yolk inside and tell if it has been fertilised.Nothing at all to do with the fridge. They are not in a fridge in the shop are they?

depending on if you just got it from the chicken, hen, if you didn't, and i think so, plus you know they do die some eggs white, so that could be it too, and it's constantly shaken and flipped an all through it's trip to the store

only if it is fertilized. Otherwise, it's breakfast.

first of all the egg has to be fertilised for a chicken to grow and most eggs sold in shops aren't fertilized by roosters. unfortunately a lot of the shop eggs come from battery hens who spends its life in a cage laying eggs, pooping, eating and sleeping.

yes it is the same as giving birth to a baby chick.. but then you have to have a little warm box with a cloth blanket for it too. the fridge just keeps it cold for breakfast and when you cook an egg it is the embryo that is the yellow yoke. The white is the placenta just the same as giving birth. That is a very good question you ask. A lot of people don't even think about that just the same as milk cause they get all this out of a grocery store and don't think about the source either,, for any dairy product or for where the meat comes from even. Thankyou for your question. I hope this is helpful for you.

Lot of time on your hands, huh

I think i've answered this question before. Eggs can be hatched naturally by the hens sitting on them or by incubation with the same heat as the hens would be.
