How do you measure out golden syrup?!

Question:

How do you measure out golden syrup?

A recipe will specify, say, 4 tablespoons of golden syrup which is difficult to measure accurately. Is there a more accurate way of measuring or weighing golden syrup?

Answers:
I put a quantity of golden syrup in a small jug and microwave for about 15sec then it will run into the tablespoon measuring spoon . much easier than when syrup is all in one lump.

Dip your spoon in boiling water before and after each measurement, then its slips off easily and isnt as messy. The spoonful should be level.

here is an idea, for example if you put the tin and contents on your scales and they weigh for eaxple 15oz and you want 4 table spoons im sure it should say how much in weight you need for example 4oz of sysrup just take it out till the tin and contents weight 11oz.

you can get it in a squeezy bottle now, which makes it a whole lot easier? you can pour out nearly exact measurements onto your spoon, with no mess?

heat metal spoon under hot water first then syrup should slide off easily.

proper cooking measuring spoons are exactly what you need.

They have the measurements on them but they arnt actually "spoons".

So for liquids they are perfect. Have a look at Lakeland, they sell them.

i use metal measuring spoons and cups and heat them with boiling water first and the golden syrup just slides off , usually

I measure it by the mouthful, mmmmmm

I rarely measure anything, eyeballing it works just fine.

Instead of buying it in tins buy pouring syrup in a bottle.Either that or warm the syrup by standing the tin in a bowl of hot water, this will mean you can measure your spoonfuls much easier as it is not so sticky/

Use Maple Syrup -
it is healthier.

Don,t bother with recipe,s eat it from the tin---stick your finger in the tin and lick it

By weight, sprinkle a little flour on the weighing tray, pour in the syrup. It will slide off easily. The only useful thing I learnt during a year of domestic science.

4Tablespoons = 1/4 cup. What about using a 1/4 c . measure? Also spray the cup lightly with a mild cooking spray, that will help the syrup come out easier.

Best way is to just run your spoon under running, hot water so the syrup doesn't stick. But honestly, don't worry so much about measurements..they're very flexible and the best cooks don't measure anything!

Very, very carefully, but is it necessary to be that exact?

You know how you can buy vegetable oil in a spray can?

Well I spray my spoon first and then the golden syrup will slip straight off into your bowl making sure you are not leaving half of it behind in the spoon.

Warm your spoon in hot water before attempting to measure syrup and it should fall off the spoon.

not really just dip spoon in hot water first and it will do better
