my missus says dont eat it, red meat is supposed to be red throughout apparantly.

Usually beef that is fresh and isn't red inside means that it hasn't been treated with anything to keep it red. But there has been a recent recall, go here for info: http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2007...

eat it your be fine

If its still in date it should be fine.

I've never seen this before with steak. If it smells o.k. then it should be alright. But if in doubt-leave it out. It's not worth being ill.Throw it away. You won't enjoy it anyway as you think something is wrong with it.

If cooked through properly then it will be OK. Unless it was out of date then you should suspect it.

If the meat smelled okay and has been thoroughly cooked it is fine to eat. As beef ages it loses its redness.

If the meat had been ground up and was undercooked it might possibly carry bacteria, but cubed and stewed for 90 minutes you should be quite safe.

Bon appetit!

Who are these people? Good beef is not red. It is anything from brown to a dark black/blue. Red beef is what is sold in the supermarkets and is immature rubbish. The longer it is hung the darker it goes and the better it is (hung by the butcher, not us). I buy 35 day matured sirloin steak from my butcher which is extremely dark brown and blackish in places. It has a mild smell of blue cheese and is meltingly gorgeous whn cooked. Sounds like you have been sold some good beef and not realised it - it will probably be the best you have ever tasted.
