Because they order a certain amount of chicken per week/day.

Any restaurant can run out of anything it's weird. I used to work at red lobster and one day we ran out of "fresh fish" and almost everything else. It just depends on how much they order and how many customers happen to come along and buy it. It varies from week to week.
Bad management. They don't keep enough in stock
IDK.... but one time when I went they said they ran out of chicken and I was like how can that happen when chicken is in the name of the store!! Thats like Dunkin Doughnuts too... How can you run out of doughnuts?? Well it happens!! Oh well... I know i didnt really help you any but I liked your question!! I have always wondered the same thing!!
Probably got more orders than they anticipated.
They have a certain amount of chicken they prepare for the day to be cooked. They dont cook it all at once but they have it sperated. They cook it as needed. Once they run out for the day they are out. The next day they start the process all over again. They do account for growth, but sometimes there is an influx that they cant account for. There it is!!

Sometimes its probably hard to keep up if busy. There is so many ways that they serve chicken now too that has to be cooked different ways. I think a lot of the time there is a problem too with keeping good experienced management which can train a crew to keep this from happening very often.

Due to the public demand of their chicken. It reaches to their quota per day and they should try to do some intervention to this kind of problem to maintain their business image. <*-*>

they also cook chips may be the zit boy orders to many chips and not enougth chicken
they probably ran out cos of their ordering was not correct. not enough ordered or not enough was sent from their proveyer.
