We make them as a pasta dish and not a soup. Cook the package as directed, strain them, and then put the seasoning packet on there and mix it up real good! Serve with a tall glass of ice cold milk (preferably whole milk!)*
*Note: do not attempt this recipe if you are on a low-sodium diet.. lol

Interesting point-In the Republic of Korea, US Soldiers for decades are known to trade their MRE field rations to the little old Korean grannies outside the field sites, who'll kindly cook up a bowl of "cheese ramyon", along with a chocopie and grape soda.
My mom makes a really good salad where she takes raw ramen noodles and sautees them in butter, toasted waltnuts, and spices/herbs. She then puts them on top spinach and adds an oily dressing-- sooo good!
