Golden sugar?!
Golden sugar?
I recently found a recipie I want to try and it calls for golden sugar. I was wondering if golden sugar meant brown sugar, or if there was a different kind of sugar that I have not heard of yet. Does anyone know what they were refering to, and if regular sugar or brown sugar would work the same?

golden sugar is brown sugar.long time ago people would not call it brown because it sounded dirty,so they called it golden,the recipe is probily an old recipe.it thhe same thing.
golden sugar is brown sugar. brown sugar is just plain sugar with molasses added to it--the more molasses added, the darker the sugar
golden sugar is a syrup and you can use Honey or molasses (Substitute measure for measure.)
It's a pity you didn't mention where you are (or the origins of your recipe, of course), because all the answers you've had so far, are US centric in their tenor, which is of course fine if that's where you happen to be. :-)
Just in case: for Europe, Africa & Middle East (1), Golden Sugar is a granulated sugar, not dissimilar to raw cane sugar, for which the last mentioned would also form the recommended substitute.
