Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sautee it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it.

Jumbo shrimp is a SIZE of shrimp. You don't "make" jumbo shrimp. You can prepare shrimp in any number of ways, regardless of its size. Usually, "jumbo" means there are 16 to 20 shrimp of that size to a pound.

I like it steam dipped in old bay seasoning 1 can of beer and 1 cup of water.

Shrimp cocktail sauce = horseradish and ketchup mixed together.

jumbo shrimp is just the size. Its larger than most... basically just buy the biggest ones you can find... and yeah, many times it will be tagged in the market as "jumbo shrimp" but its the same as any other, just bigger.

I like to make low country boil with shrimp. Or you can just boil it in some Old Bay seasoning. Tastey. But I'm from GA, thats how we always do it.

You buy the jumbo shrimp at Wal-Mart or some whole-sale mart and then sautee in the skillet (thaw if frozen) for ten minutes, 5 minutes on each side on medium heat. season with garlic sauce and butter.
dip in cocktail sauce if desired. MMM...I got the munchies now! :)

George Carlin: "The term Jumbo Shrimp has always amazed me. What is a Jumbo Shrimp? I mean, it's like Military Intelligence - the words don't go together, man."

Jumbo means unusually large, and jumbo shrimp literally means unusually large shrimp. Just buy large shrimp at your local market or store.

There are many types of sauce and ways to prepare jumbo shrimp. See the cooks.com Web site for a good selection: http://www.cooks.com/rec/search/0,1-0,ju...

A basic way of preparing them is to tear off the heads, peel off the shells, and devein. Delicious if you just fry them in a skillet with butter, garlic, and a little salt and pepper. Turn'em over when they begin to turn pink (2 or 3 minutes does it on my stove).

jumbo shrimp is what the name of the shrimp is, and you can prepare it a number of ways, but here is a recipe my husband likes.

JUMBO SHRIMP AND BROCCOLI IN WHITE
WINE

4 fresh jumbo shrimp
1/3 c. stock (fish)
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. sugar
2 tbsp. dry sherry or rice wine
1 to 2 tbsp. water
1 tbsp. cornstarch
4 cooked broccoli spears

Remove shrimp shells and veins. Slit each shrimp along the back with a sharp knife. Bring stock to a boil in a medium saute pan. Add shrimp boil 2 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove shrimp from pan. Add salt, sugar and sherry/wine to hot stock. In a small bowl, combine water and cornstarch, stir until smooth. Stir cornstarch mixture into stock mixture. Bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer 2 minutes. Skim foam from surface until surface is clear. Add cooked shrimp; heat through. To serve: arrange in a small dish with broccoli.
Makes 1 serving. NOTE: Multiply ingredients by 4 for 4 servings.

It's called jumbo shrimp. It typically means there are around 16-20 shrimp per pound and the price is typically a little higher for this size shrimp. You can steam shrimp, fry it, or create soups. I have a recipe for coconut shrimp that is very tropical. Feel free to contact me if you woudl like it.

Jumbo is the size of shrimp. You don't "make" jumbo shrimp. Jumbo means there are 16 (sometimes 20) of that size to one lb (pound).
