What's an easy and delicious chocolate dessert to make?!

Question:

What's an easy and delicious chocolate dessert to make?

I'm not the world's BEST cook- but I can make just about anything, so long as I have a recipe in front of me to go by.

I'm inviting a special guy over for dinner and he loves chocolate. This is the first meal I'm preparing and I'd love to surprise him with a great chocolate dessert of some sort.

Easy is best- as I'm afraid anything too detailed would befuzzle me. Ha!

Any suggestions/recipes would be greatly appreciated.
THANKS in advance!

Take it easy and make some chocolate chop cookies, you can't go wrong there! =]

Kraftfoods.com has the best recipes and most have pics. The recipes are easy to follow and use common items. In the search box put in chocolate and a whole bunch of great stuff will pull up. It even tells how many ingredients are in each recipe wich would indicate how easy it may or may not be.

PERFECT CHOCOLATE CAKE

4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c. milk
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1/4 tsp. Jamaican allspice
1 egg yolk
2 c. cake flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1 c. superfine sugar
2 egg yolks
3 T. water
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbsp. dark rum
2 egg whites, whipped

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 2 - 9 inch layer cake pans.
Whisk together chocolate, milk, allspice, brown sugar and one egg yolk in the top of a double boiler, stirring until a custard is formed and mixture thickens. Cool. Stir in baking soda and salt. Sift the flour onto waxed paper.

In bowl of electric mixer, whip the butter, gradually adding sugar and two egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

In a cup, stir together 3 T. water, 1/2 c. milk, and 1 tsp. vanilla extract and 1 Tbsp. dark rum.

Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture alternating with the vanilla/milk/water mixture. Stir in the chocolate custard mixture and beat until smooth, approximately two to three minutes at medium speed of mixer.

In a clean bowl, using the wire whisk attachment of your electric mixer, beat two egg whites until soft peaks form; gently fold into cake batter.

Turn into greased layer cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees F. for about 25 minutes or until cake tester or toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Turn out onto wire racks to cool. Level with a serrated knife if required, then stack and frost with chocolate frosting.

Note: This recipe calls for superfine sugar, not to be confused with confectioners or 10X sugar. If you don't have superfine sugar you can pulse regular granulated sugar in the food processor to substitute. Domino supplies superfine sugar in 1 pound packages at the supermarket or in larger quantities at the bakery supply or foodservice outlet. Superfine sugar dissolves readily and works best for cakes, helping to produce a lighter texture.

Chocolate-Mint Striped Delight

35 Oreo cookies, finely crushed
6 T butter or margarine, melted
1 pkg (8 oz.) Philadelphia Cream Cheese, softened
? C sugar
2 T milk
1 tub (12 oz.) Cool Whip, thawed, divided
3 ? C milk
2 pkg. (4-serving size) Jell-O Chocolate Mint Flavor Instant Pudding & Pie Filling

Mix crushed cookies and butter in medium bowl. Press firmly onto bottom of 13X9-inch dish. Refrigerate 10 minutes.

Beat cream cheese, sugar and 2T milk in medium bowl with wire whisk until smooth. Gently stir in 1 ? C of the whipped topping. Spread over crust.

Pour 3 ? cups milk into large bowl. Add pudding mixes. Beat with wire whisk 2 minutes or until well blended. Pour over cream cheese layer. Let stand 5 minutes or until thickened. Spread remaining whipped topping over pudding.

Refrigerate 4 hours or overnight. Cut into 24 squares.

If you can't find the chocolate mint pudding anymore, just use regular chocolate pudding and add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon mint extract to the pudding. You can also leave out the mint extract entirely.

I made this dessert for my office one time and I had several requests for the recipe. It's really yummy and easy to make. Hope you have a nice night with your special person.

Here is a SUPER easy (and cheap) recipe and it tastes like a million bucks. Not only that, I have yet to meet someone who doesn't like it.

Ingredients:
1 large box of Jell-o chocolate pudding
1 small tub of CoolWhip
1 package of Oreos
(you can also add 1 large candy bar of Butterfinger too if you want)

Make the chocolate pudding. After it sets, mix in the whipped topping together. Crush the Oreos (and Butterfinger if desired); I put them in a Ziploc bag and do it that way so not to make so much mess. Then, in a bowl or dish, you can layer pudding, crush Oreos (and Butterfinger if desired), pudding, Oreos, etc. Or you can just mix it all together. Then chill it in the fridge. Serve when you want dessert!

It comes out tasting like a chocolate mousse almost with the perfect addition of crunch in the Oreos/Butterfinger and tastes pretty upscale considering the fact the ingredients only cost like $5 altogether. Always a winner!!! Enjoy!!
