My Microwave gets for two things. Almost everything my grandson does and I only use it defrost meat. For me everything goes in the oven. On almost every frozen food I buy the preferred method is the oven. Things come out browner and crisper. Especially frozen french fries.

Why are your potatoes frozen?
oh.
Ummm, bake them. Or cook them in oil (2-3 inches), in a sauce pot on the stovetop, med-hi heat, and drop them in when the oil is hot. I don't think you need to thaw them but they will splatter a bit when they are frozen, so stand back. And cook them to your liking. I don't like bake mine, they are kind of dry and gross. But I think they make frozen fries specifically for baking.

yeah its always better to cook or warm things up not in the microwave because microwaves, like practically everything else on this earth, can give you cancer.

I don't like potatoes in the microwave, they get mealy. What kind of frozen potatoes? Home fries, french fries? Best to heat in a pan with a little oil, or bake with same.

generally yes -- they are discovering rapid heating in microwaves morphs their nutritional value too.

frozen potatoes? like fries and hash browns? stick 'em in the oven.

Microwaves cook by vibrating water molecules. You will get a more uniform thaw by using the microwave. I suggest thawing them in the microwave, and then finishing them with the stove.
