How to keep avocado from going brown?!

Question:

How to keep avocado from going brown?

When I prepare some baby food for my daughter, I only use half the avocado and wrap the rest and refrigerate it. The next day though, it turns completely brown (and very unappetizing). Anyone know some tricks for it to stay green for at least a day?

Answers:
It needs some type of acid. Try lemon/lime juice squeezed over it and then wrap it in plastic wrap and put it in an air tight container. Avocados brown very easily.

lemon juice(freshly squeezed)

you need to put lemon juice on the avocado. it will not turn it brown for max of 2 days. however, you get a lemon taste to it. hope it helps

rinse it with diluted lemon or lime juice and cover with aluminum foil

I am a food scientist. First of all, try not to refrigerate any tropical food, temperatures below 50F damage it and either it turns brown or black or else gets pitted. Cold also kills the flavor of tomatoes by destroying the protein that leads to the main flavor component. But do what you need to do and overnight will not hurt. To reduce brown and black on the cut surface of apples, potatoes, lettuce, avocadoes etc., put a little lemon juice or any other citric acid. A little vinegar works next best.

take the pit out-put lemon juice or reconstituted lemon juice on the top enought to wet all exposed parts-u dont have to fill the pit space just move it around over the sink-then cover with saran wrap type cover-not wax-and best to set it in a bowl or a zip lock bag face up.

and for saying grace over it for the baby and the fam=ADD AMAZING GRACE TOO=FOR SAYING GRACE=a point for your heart and soul to flavor you from within=yes the truth you have Isaiah 9:6 "Unto us a child is born, a son is given, and he will be almighty God, the everlasting father, the wonderful counselor, the prince of peace." I prayed and let him into my heart to forgive my sins, even one lie, and help me and to be my friend. amen. Revelation 3:19&20 "I love you and ask you to repent, behold I stand at your heart door and knock if you ask me in, I will come in and help you and be your friend."
Romans 1:16 unashamed of the gospel & 9-11th chapters provoke them to jealousy that havent come to know him yet with your joy and inner peace

also you can use a baby food jar and make up guacamole-with lemon juice-and fridge is best -

yet it also can be frozen too if steem heated quickly like other fresh veggies. but must be eatin immediately once taken from the freezer=will rapidly color to brown once out within 1 1/2 hours and lose its taste.

I'm no scientist, but lemon......will work....

serve from the side that doesn't have the pit. seal the side with the pit in an airtight container -not plastic wrap. otherwise, eat one side while you feed her the other.

keep it sealed with cling wrap or something similar to stop the air from getting to it and thus making it go brown.............

lemon juice prevents it from going brown :)

rub it with lemon juice and it will stay green

Leave the pit/stone in the avocado and it'll stay green for longer, although I'm not sure if it'll last for over a day.

Lemon juice will work too, but it'll obviously affect the taste!

Freshly-squeezed lemon juice works well, as does storing it in the refridgerator with the avocado pit.

Keep the pit in it, and it won't turn brown.
