This recipe is using already cooked chocolate cake from a box. If your dad loves chocolate, he will absolutely love this. =0)

Death by Chocolate
1 box chocolate cake mix
4 sm boxes of Instant Chocolate pudding
milk for chocolate pudding
4- 8-oz. cool Whip
* oreo cookies crumbs (optional)
* melted chocolate (optional)
* chocolate chips (optional)

Bake cake according to directions.
and prepare pudding according to box.
When cake is cooled.
Layer as follows: This really looks nice in a glass pyrex dish or a trifle bowl.
half the cake - crumbled
half the pudding ( 2 boxes prepared)
16 oz. cool whip
Repeat-
* If you want you can sprinkle oreo crumbs, and chocolate chips on the cool whip layers. On the final cool whip layer you can drizzle melted chocolate. And sprinkle oreo crumbs and chocolate chips.

DECADENT CHOCOLATE CAKE WITH SAUCE

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup all-purpose flour or cake flour
4 eggs, separated
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tbs. butter
2 tbs. corn syrup

Heat oven to 325°F.
Grease a spring form pan, 8x2 1/2 inches, or round pan 9x1 inches. Heat 1 cup of chocolate chips and 1/2 cup of butter in a 2-quart heavy saucepan over medium heat until chocolate chips are melted; cool 5 minutes. Stir in flour until smooth.

Stir in egg yolks until well blended. Beat egg whites in a large bowl on high speed until foamy. Beat in sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, until soft peaks form. Fold chocolate mixture into egg whites. Spread in pan.

Bake spring form 35 to 40 minutes, or round cake pans for 30 to 35 minutes (top will appear dry and cracked) or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean; cool 10 minutes.

Run knife along side of cake to loosen; remove bottom of spring-form pan and cool cake completely. Place on serving plate.

Heat 1/2 cup chocolate chips, 2 tablespoons butter, and the corn syrup over medium heat until chocolate chips are melted.

Spread over top of cake, allowing some to drizzle down the side.

Makes 12 servings.

1 box Betty Crocker? SuperMoist? chocolate fudge cake mix
Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
1 tablespoon instant espresso coffee (dry)
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 oz semisweet baking chocolate, chopped
1 container Betty Crocker? Rich & Creamy dark chocolate frosting
2 teaspoons instant espresso coffee (dry)

1. Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Make and cool cake as directed on box for two 8-inch or 9-inch round pans--except add 1 tablespoon espresso and the cinnamon with the eggs and stir in the chocolate just before pouring into pans.
2. To make glaze, remove lid and foil cover of frosting. Microwave on High 20 to 30 seconds or until slightly melted. Stir in 2 teaspoons coffee until blended.
3. Place 1 cake layer, rounded side down, on serving plate. Carefully spread almost half the glaze to edge of layer, allowing some to drip down side. Top with second layer, rounded side up. Carefully spread remaining glaze to edge of top layer, allowing some to drip down side. Store loosely covered.

Do the chocolate cake on the back of a can of Hershey's cocoa powder. It's the best!! Even Applebee's serves it on their menu. Do the frosting recipe they feature, too. I bake a lot, and have yet to find a chocolate cake recipe to beat this one. Very easy to make. And trust me...it will be the best present your dad get's this year!! :)

This is easy because you mix it in the same pan that you use to bake it.

Top each slice of cake with a little CoolWhip. Guys LOVE this cake.

WHACKY CHOCOLATE CAKE

1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. cocoa
6 tbsp. Mazola oil (vegetable oil)
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. water

Sift together all dry ingredients directly into pan in which you are going to bake cake (8x8x2 inches or oblong pyrex) then make three holes in dry ingredients. In first hole, pour Mazola oil, in the second vinegar and in the third vanilla. Pour the cup of water over all and beat with fork until smooth. Bake 350 degrees 20 to 30 minutes.

OOOHHHH OOOHHH OOOHHH So glad you asked. Here is my favorite & ALWAYS turns out good.

Here is a recipe for Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake,

INGREDIENTS:

* 1 - 18 ounce chocolate cake mix (I prefer Pillsbury but any kind will do)
* 3 medium eggs
* 1/2 cup water
* 1/2 cup milk
* 1/2 cup mayonnaise*

*DO NOT USE SALAD DRESSING TYPE MAYO THOUGH

PREPARATION:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Lightly butter and flour (use a bit of the chocolate cake mix to flour the pan - there won't be any white residue on the cake that comes from flour - put any excess back into the batter)

Combine ingredients with a hand mixer on low. Continue beating on medium speed for 2 minutes.

Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake for 30 - 35 minutes. Cool in pans on wire racks for 10 minutes. Remove from pans and cool completely before frosting.

* Increase mayonnaise to 1 cup if cake mix has pudding mix in it.

**For two 9 inch cake pans, bake at 25-30 minutes. Check for doneness but inserting a toothpick into center.

** For 9 x 13 pan - bake for 35 - 40 minutes. Cool completely in pan.
** For Tube pan - bake for 40 - 45 minutes. Cool in pan for 20 minutes. Remove from pan to cool completely.

The mayonnaise makes it super moist. And if you think about it, mayo is oil and eggs anyway which are included in the recipe. (not the oil though- that is what the mayo is for.)

You can frost with a white cream (cream cheese) icing or just dust it with powdered sugar. It is good enough on its own without all the heavy frosting.
