Answers:
My mother always bought a tub of yoghurt from the dairy--plain, full fat--and used a tablespoon of THAT to culture each of her next (6 oz) containers of yoghurt that she was making at home.

Her yoghurt ended up just as firm and good tasting as the original.

The principal is the same for sourdough bread--you use a little bit of the original batch to make the next batch.

There are lots (even in big pots) of live natural yogurt in stores. Try to visit the cool area (ref.area) of each groceries or stores in your neighborhood and it is impossible to find one. There are also unique live natural yogurts in international markets.

Contact the above, they'll help.

You can get it from any supermarket - they come in medium sized tubs and is labelled Bio Yoghurt - it's the stuff with all the live bacteria in it...

from a dairy farm

Just buy a tub of live natural yoghurt. Some may have been stored incorrectly and may not have the live culture inside, so the way to test is to leave a spoonful of milk on top of the opened yoghurt. If it has disappeared after an hour, then it is live and ready to use as an active ingredient.

To start with, use about a tablespoon of full fat natural yogurt from the supermarket. Thereafter for the next batch save some from the last batch and add it to to the new batch.

try your local health food shop, they should have some
