It is usually Good Friday which is at the end of April.
it was customary/part of the roman catholics religion to eat fish every friday,every week of the year, and not meat, the protestant religions would eat either meat or fish on a friday,but they mostly ate meat on the friday.incidentally before refrigerators were made ,friday was the best day to buy and eat fish as it was usually landed on the thursday as it was superstitious for the fishermen to go out fishing on a friday,so they fished all other days and landed the fish catch on thursday for sale on the friday,but thanks to the fridges we can safely eat fish on any day now.
For 2011, those celebrating the Lenten season will practice abstaining from meat on all Friday's through Lent (Began Wednesday, March 9th and ends Sunday, April 24th). So on 3/11, 3/18, 3/25, 4/1, 4/8, 4/15, and 4/22, no meat.
