Answers:
FIRST make sure your microwave is on the bake mode and follow the instructions in the manual to set the temperature you want to pre heat the oven to. As soon ias the temperature is reached the microwave will beep and most brands then maintain that temperature for 8/10 mts.

Read the manual.

If you don't know what it's for, why buy one.

Samsung. Microwaves are excellent for steaming vegetables.

size and power is what you need to contemplate when shopping for a micro wave oven. You need at least a 900 watt oven, more if you can afford it.and physical size as well.be sure you at least get a chicken in it for thawing purposes.I never would cook a bird in a microwave ,mostly for reheating and such, if you plan on baking you may want a convection oven, whirlpool is a great brand. The link below leads to a bad to the bone ,state of the art, mutha of all microwaves! The microwave oven is a versatile, time saving kitchen appliance that uses microwave radiation to heat food. Food cooked in the microwave is as nutritious as food cooked in other ways, and research suggests that microwave cooking retains more vitamins, minerals and nutrients than boiling.

Some advantages of using the microwave oven include:

It is faster than conventional methods of cooking.
Conventional methods of cooking use energy to heat oil, water or air - microwave ovens only heat the food, so you can save on your energy bills.
Nutrients are retained in the food.
Protein foods don’t brown when cooked in a microwave. This reduced oxidation means that nutrients like vitamin A and E are less likely to be destroyed.
Food heated quickly in a microwave retains more nutrients than foods kept hot for a long time, such as those simmered on a stove.
Potentially dangerous micro-organisms in food tend to thrive in temperatures between 5°C and 60°C. When you use a microwave oven, food can be thawed, cooked and served quickly. So it spends less time in the dangerous temperature zone.

There are many brands in market....you can buy any of them as per your need and budjet. LG and Samsung are good.

Microwave ovens cook by rapidly heating the water inside the food you are cooking so foods with a lot of moisture do well in the microwave like most vegetables. They defrost reasonably well and are great for melting things.
Be careful if you make coffee or tea in the microwave. Get some cheap chopsticks and put one in the cup. That will keep it from bubbling over and burning your hand when you go to remove it from the oven.
No matter how "microwave safe" a dish or cup is, they can and do get burning hot in the microwave (even plastic ware) so use hand protection.
