Why do they write this on milk bottles....?!

Question:

Why do they write this on milk bottles....?

Why do milk bottles say "may be offered for sale until midnight of the date indicated on the package if for sale in New York City" or something like that? what's the difference between New York City milk drinkers and everybody else? Do they just have stronger stomachs and can drink expired milk, or what? ;O)
Does anyone know why they do this?

Answers:
It pertains to laws.

If sold beyond expiration, it can cause harm and possibility of lawsuit.

Different locations have their own laws.

Only lawyers can navigate around the many laws we ordinary people take for granted.

Could it have something to do with how far it has had to travel? That doesn't really make sense though as it should have been refrigerated the whole way. Strange. I don't know.

You still have glass milk bottles in New York ?? My god, I haven't seen a milk bottle in 30 years.

I think the wording is just the way it reads as an expiry date. On tetra packs its just a date as there wouldn't be enough room for the rest.

Every state and sometimes even cities have different laws, same as products that say this is such and such, except if sold in Canada.

Expired milk by one day yes by more no. but you can eat yoghurt cream withis effectivaly gone off milk.

I am so sorry, but I have never seen that b4....So, I am not the one with the answer you are looking for...I tried though;)
