What is that spicy green Peruvian condiment the restaurants serve with meals?!

Question:

What is that spicy green Peruvian condiment the restaurants serve with meals?

it's very piquant, (downright hot, actually), and tastes like it has vinegar, garlic, some type of ahi pepper...i asked my Limeno husband what it's called, he just said, "ahi verde", which I assume in Lima means something a little more specific than "green pepper"!

I would love to know where I could buy it or make it. And the hotter the better!

Thanks for any help!

Thanks for the guesses, guys, but I'm looking for responses from people who KNOW and have had it...I have to believe there's garlic and vinegar in it, no pepper is that robust on its own. Every Peruvian restaurant I've been to (granted, they're all in Miami) has served it with the meal, or had it on the table. It is very hot, and the color is a green-yellow.
Thanks!

it is made out of locoto or aji verde, a peruvian and Bolivian spice , It is similar to the habanero pepper but with a different flavor.
you can buy dried locoto at Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/locoto-rocoto-powd...

it is very hot stuff , so you have to be careful, and the recipe to make LLajua or the sauce made with locotos is at:

The garlic and vinager are optional but it is just too much flavor together
