Question:

Does a salad have to have at least five ingredients?

Answers:
Salad can be whatever you want it to be, but I'd say at least 3 for me personally.

No. Cesar salad consist of only Romain lettuce and Cesar dressing.

no. you can create a salad however you wish, its all about your taste.

A salad can be just lettuce but if you want a really good salad, I would say at least 5 ingredients. More ingredients means more flavor. YUM!!!

Salad \Sal"ad\ (s[a^]l"ad), n. [F. salade, OIt. salata, It. insalata, fr. salare to salt, fr. L. sal salt. See Salt, and cf. Slaw.]

1. A preparation of vegetables, as lettuce, celery, water cress, onions, etc., usually dressed with salt, vinegar, oil, and spice, and eaten for giving a relish to other food; as, lettuce salad; tomato salad, etc.

Leaves eaten raw are termed salad. --I. Watts.

2. A dish composed of chopped meat or fish, esp. chicken or lobster, mixed with lettuce or other vegetables, and seasoned with oil, vinegar, mustard, and other condiments; as, chicken salad; lobster salad.

A salad is a food item generally served either before or after the main dish as a separate course, as a main course in itself, or as a side dish accompanying the main dish. The word "salad" comes from the French salade of the same meaning, from the Latin salata, "salty", from sal, "salt".
