That's the one with those nasty little balls in it, right?.. I hated ithttp://www.lanceandeskimo.com/chefelf/be...

I believe I remember it. Was that the drink that had all the weird little globules of stuff in it? I had a sip of one once, and I gotta say, I found it to be kinda not-good.

I remember also finding it odd that it was not carbonated. It seemed like I was drinking a flat soda, and with little balls of fat floating in it.

Yeah, it tasted okay, but those gross little balls made me gag.

You know Bubble Tea is quite popular now and it has balls floating in it. You'll find it at most Asian markets/restaurants.

Why do I feel dirty after typing "balls floating in it"?

Orbitz was the product name of a noncarbonated fruit-flavored beverage, made by the company Clearly Canadian Beverage Corporation (makers of Clearly Canadian), that had small edible balls floating in it. It was introduced around 1996 and quickly disappeared due to bad sales.

The small balls floated due to their nearly equal density to the surrounding liquid, and remained suspended with assistance from an ingredient known as gellan gum. The gellan gum provided a support matrix--something like a microscopic spider web--and had a visual clarity approaching that of water, which increased with the addition of sugar.
Orbitz came in five flavors:
Raspberry Citrus
Blueberry Melon Strawberry
Pineapple Banana Cherry Coconut
Vanilla Orange
Black Currant Berry

I really liked it, but I always got the impression that I was the only one who did... Its nice to know I wasn't alone.
