How can I make beef brisket in a slow cooker.?!

Question:

How can I make beef brisket in a slow cooker.?

I want to make it on the high setting.

Answers:
When making corned beef and cabbage in the crock pot, it's just like simmering it on the stove top. You put it on high for about 4-5 hours, (depending on size of briskette, you are not going to dry it out) I normally put in 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, a bay leaf and about 6-8 cloves. You can cook it with or without your vegetables, ie. cabbage, carrots, potatoes. I usually just throw them all in and let 'em cook.

sprinkle it with a little flour and brown it in a pan, then add to cooker, add 1 packet of Onion Soup mix (the dry kind) and once can of beef broth. Let cook until tender (will pull apart with fork when done)

At the end you can add barbecue sauce to cooker and cook for a while longer, or eat as is. The drippings make a great "jus" just as they are, or you can put them in a pan and cook them down to thicken.

you'll need an oval cooker. half a can cream o'shroom on the bottom. sprinkle half a pouch of onion soup mix over other soup. place brisket on top. cover with remaining soups. add half a can of water. cover and cook until a fork inserted in thickest part slides out with minimal resistance. internal temps don't work here. the muscle has to be broken down. this is where the slow cooking comes into play. it will work on high, but it will work much better on the low setting.

SMOKED BRISKET

1 c. liquid smoke
1/2 c. 57 Steak sauce
2 tbsp. celery salt
1 tbsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. black powder (pepper)
6-7 lb. brisket
1 lg. crock pot

Take brisket and open where it is slices, rub celery salt, garlic powder, and black powder (pepper) inside brisket. Pour a small amount of the liquid smoke and steak sauce inside. Roll brisket and stand on end in crock pot. Pour the remaining liquid over the meat, rinse you cup with 1/4 water and pour this over the meat also. Cook on high for approximately 1 hour, then turn to low for 5-6 hours depending on the size of brisket.

This is quick and the easiest way to do brisket in a slow cooker. There is this great product called Claude's brisket marinade. It is usually with the steak sauce and marinades and even sometimes I have found it near the briskets. I hope you can find it where you are located; it is a Texas staple. But I pour a little in the bottom of the slow cooker and put my brisket in the cooker and then pour the rest over it. It depends on the size of the brisket but one bottle is pretty strong. No water just the marinade. I know alot of people frown on cooking in the marinade but this gives a really good spicy smokey flavor and it just falls apart tender. I cook on high for a pretty good size brisket (I usually get a big trimmed brisket, house full of boys) about 5 hours and check. It depends how you like your brisket. We let it just fall apart tender. If and when there is any leftovers, just shred it and throw some BBQ sauce in it and TADAA BBQ sandwiches. We even eat it without the sauce. But, this is just a throw it in and let the cooker do the work. Not gourmet just quick and easy!
