when the Puritans reached Plymouth rock ,the Indians met them and had a feast, after supper ,the Indian children would toss an ear of corn into a fire and dodge the hot popcorn as it came flying off the cob,the great, great, great grand daddy Orville Rickenbacker figured out a way to sell it to the masses and a simple fair food mixed with peanuts and caramel, called it cracker jax, later the name was amended for being politically incorrect and world war 2 broke out, the navy secretly used popcorn to power they submarines on the east coast, the secret formula for beans was finally sold to Walt Disney..as a result we have popcorn in movies. Todays popcorn has so many coconut oil ingredients,it will scar any cloresterol yer momma may have bestowed upon ye, and thats the rest of the story LOL if you dont bleve it ask the deaf man he heard about it and told me.

that is a very good question ;)

i have no idea but thank goodness they did or else i would still be sitting at the kitchen table eating it.

chuck norris.

Probably an extremely zahftig person. Or a person with no control over their eating habits.

it was JIFFY POP in the 1950's they had an on the stove
popcorn pre-packaged item available called 'jiffy-pop" and all you needed to do was put it on top of the stove and wait a few minutes and the popping would begin......but you had to stand there and watch to make sure it didn't burn......then as the popping started the aluminum bag would expand as it popped. it was nothing like the microwave version available today ...... and it was full of grease at the bottom=not healthy at all !!!

People used to eat boiled eggs while watching movies. Native Americans got the idea from Indians in South America during trading expeditions on how to pop corn. [It wasn't like it is today.] Then the white man can along and improved the corn developing a new strain. Now there are 3-4 types of corn. Since it is easier to carry than the eggs, people started to bring it to the movies instead. Owners thought "Hey- if I pop it in the theater, I can charge for it." So now they charge millions for all the stuff at the concession stand. Some even has Gourmet food that can be ordered while watching a movie.
We have come a long way - Baby!!!!!!
