Why does bottled water have an expiration date?!

Question:

Why does bottled water have an expiration date?

Answers:
It is quite surprising, isn't it? But as some of these folks mentioned, the reason is really in the bottle that the water comes in. The water bottle, like other food containers, are made up of a thermalplastic polymer resin which is subject to different types of degradation during its processing, mainly from thermal and thermal oxidation. Anyway, as the polymer degrades acetaldehyde is formed, which is a colorless gas (they say it has a fruity smell - maybe this why some plastics smell "fruity" when you bend and crush them...hmmm). As the bottle starts to degrade over time it releases the acetaldehyde from the bottle walls giving the water a strange taste.

nothing last forever.
not even water

well maybe twinkies and spam

I think it has something to do with the plastic it is contained in

Because the packaging gets old, degrades and degenerates! I just had a birthday and wouldn't mind getting new 'packing material' myself!
.

because bacteiria can form after a long time

Plastic degrades.

cause the water gets stale...someone else told me this..
