Gardenburger vs. Boca burger?
What is the difference between these two?
Answers:
Both are meatless hamburger alternatives, but they are made out of different things. Gardenburger is potato, vegetables, and similar stuff, while I believe Boca is just soy meat. (I could be wrong on this)
I think Boca burgers are blah city, but that's just me. I much prefer Morning STar Farms "Grillers" and "Gardenburgers."
BUT.. depending on what kind of vegetarian you are, Boca is totally vegan, I think, and Gardenburgers aren't. I think that's why they taste so good, (cuz they have a bit o' cheese in them).
Course, they could be being made differently now than before, and there are many varieties of each type. Perhaps some are vegan. I dunno for sure.
While both burgers are alternatives to beef burgers, they are made up of different things. Boca burgers are more similar to the meat product, in both consistency and taste. Gardenburgers are more like a mix of many vegetables mashed together, and are textured as such. Both have their assets and their appeals, but neither should be expected to taste like a beef burger.
However, in terms of differences both have many different flavors, and I believe that Boca makes a mashed together vegetable burger and various others that are similar.
Personally, I love Boca burgers but can't stand the blah-ness of gardenburgers, but I've heard many people say otherwise. Try them both! It really just depends on what you want them for.
As for the degree of veganism, both have a vegan variety (which is the one that most restaurants claim to carry, but it is best to ask them to look closer anyways) but all of their products are not neccessarily vegan.

not sure of the difference.. i have tried the bocca.. i season it just like i did the real meat burgers and put on a cheese.. the vegan type ,,, i was experimenting.. and put on the lettuce tomatoes.. onions.. i really could not tell much difference.. except for the calories

I've never tried the garden burgers, but I eat the vegan boca burgers all the time! I think there delecious, and I'm not even vegetarian or vegan although I eat an incredibly small amount of meat ( Maybe a slice of turkey every other day ). But anyway, thats off topic. I would suggest trying both to see what fits your taste needs, and enjoy (:!
Boca is pretty much all soy, gardenburger is a mix with veggie's...they both rock, as do the morningstar farm's griller's
I like Boca way better cuz it feels more like a real burger and its more jucy and probably healthier.
Well..... it used to be that Boca burgers were made to look/taste like beef burgers..... And Gardenburgers were a combination patty of mushrooms, cheese, grains, etc.....
I still totally prefer the ORIGINAL Gardenburger over ALL varieties out there.... But I've noticed that now.... Boca sells a version that is similar to Gardenburger brand and vice verse... Gardenburger I think has a version that is more like a "meat texture/flavor" like the original Boca burgers....
It's confusing... Especially to meat eaters that can't tell the difference either way. I keep telling my mother-in-law before going to her house for a bbq that I prefer *gardenburger - original* and every time she has a package of Boca's sitting in her freezer advertising "NOW with more BEEF-like flavor...!" or some such nonsense. I've learned to just bring my own... ::sigh::
